Latvian Company Wins International Drone Competition for Ukraine Support
An international procurement competition for drones to support Ukraine has concluded. A Latvian company has emerged victorious, though its identity and the specific drone models remain under wraps.
The Drone Coalition, comprising 20 member states, oversaw the competition. A total of 163 entrepreneurs from 57 countries threw their hats into the ring. The process involved two rounds of testing, with six companies making it to the second phase in Ukraine. Only one Latvian company successfully navigated both tests in Latvia and Ukraine, securing the winning spot.
The competition has bolstered Latvia's defense industry, with the country and the United Kingdom leading the coalition's efforts to coordinate supplies of unmanned aerial vehicles to Ukraine. The timeline for delivery of the winning drones is yet to be disclosed.
