Law firm offers guidance for Mutares in taking over Continental Automotive's Italian divisions
In a significant move, global law firm White & Case LLP has been appointed to advise Mutares SE & Co. KGaA on the acquisition of Continental Automotive's manufacturing plant and research & development center for hydraulic drum brakes in Cairo Montenotte, Italy.
The acquisition, planned for the fourth quarter of 2025, is subject to customary closing conditions and approvals. This strategic move is intended to expand Mutares' presence in the automotive and mobility industry, further strengthening its Automotive & Mobility segment.
The White & Case team was led by partner Leonardo Graffi, who is based in Milan and London, for M&A aspects. Partner Philip Trillmich, with expertise in Technology Transactions, Intellectual Property, Technology, Mergers & Acquisitions, Life Sciences and Healthcare, and Sports, also joined the team from London and Frankfurt. Daniele Pojani, another partner specialising in Capital Markets and Private Capital, and lawyer Francesca Muraca from Milan, also participated in the team for M&A aspects.
The acquired site manufactures products such as the Parking Brake for Simplex Brakes (EPB-Si) and the Drum Brake (Si). The current owner, Continental Automotive, is part of Continental's plan to become the independent company Aumovio in September 2025.
