Lego Introduces Figure of Jedi: Fallen Order's Cal Kestis at a Specific Cost

In the galaxy of Star Wars, one of the most admired gaming heroes and the relatively spunky Space Barbie, Cal Kestis, is finally gracing Lego's Minifigure world. Woohoo! Not so much hooray though, as this fiery figure could only be yours if you're ready to shell out for a hefty Imperial Star Destroyer.

While teased in Lego's recent 25th anniversary video, it's official, Cal will be joining our galaxy this August, rolling in as the special bonus minifigure in a fresh new Star Destroyer set.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in Star Wars, Lego has been sprinkling bonus minifigures in numerous releases throughout 2024, each one a character Lego's never given the minifig treatment, like Darth Malak from Knights of the Old Republic, and Rogue One's Saw Gerrera. Although these sets come in at varying price points, Cal's inclusion in the new Star Destroyer set—the first ‘mid-scaled’ Star Destroyer since 2014—certainly takes the cake in terms of price, retailing for a cool $170.

Truthfully, the set itself is rather spiffy. This is the first Star Destroyer since Lego's mammoth 4,784-piece Ultimate Collector Series version in 2019. A tad smaller, with just 1,555 bricks, the new Star Destroyer doubles as a playset and model replica. Its structure opens up to reveal a minifigure-scale version of the Star Destroyer's bridge—perfect for playtime with its six other minifigures, such as a Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, a bridge tech, an Imperial Navy trooper and gunner, and Commander Praji—an Imperial Officer who's previously only been featured in minifigure form in A New Hope.

It's not the first time Lego has sealed a sought-after Star Wars figure in an expensive set, and it's unlikely to be the last. Perhaps there's a glimmer of hope that another Cal—be it a re-release or a new version—could pop up somewhere else (Lego is gearing up to let fans snag a Captain Rex minifigure and a microfighter-scaled Y-Wing for just $13, which were previously exclusive to the $650 UCS Venator set). However, with Fallen Order and Survivor fans eagerly awaiting Cal, it still feels like a punch in the gut either way.

Take a look at more of the new Star Destroyer set, available on August 1.

  1. In the future, IO9 confirmed that Lego's Minifigure world will include Cal Kestis, a character from Star Wars, starting August 2024.
  2. Alongside Cal Kestis, the new Star Destroyer set, priced at $170, will also feature minifigures like Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, and others.
  3. The new Star Destroyer set, albeit expensive, is a substantial addition to Lego's technology, being the first 'mid-scaled' Star Destroyer since 2014 and a standout among the numerous technology-based Lego sets in their 25th anniversary year.
  4. Fans of the Star Wars game, Fallen Order, and its protagonist, Cal Kestis, might find solace in the possibility of obtaining exclusive minifigures from other sets in the future, as Lego continues to release toys-and-collectibles related to the Star Wars universe.
