London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) introduces a digital markets infrastructure platform for private funds, successfully executing the initial transaction.
LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) has made a significant stride in the digital finance landscape with the launch of its new platform, Digital Markets Infrastructure (DMI). The platform, built in collaboration with Microsoft, is designed to bring together participants from across the international market, fostering an open and interoperable philosophy.
One of the first milestones for DMI was the onboarding of EJF Capital as an early adopter. This prestigious investment firm will soon have a selection of its funds available on the platform. Another key milestone was the onboarding of MembersCap and digital asset exchange Archax, who conducted the platform's initial blockchain-based transaction for MembersCap’s MCM Fund I.
The first transaction on the DMI platform was facilitated with MembersCap, marking a significant step towards unlocking new opportunities in the digital asset space. EJF Capital's participation and the successful transaction demonstrate the platform's readiness for real-world use.
Bill Borden, Corporate Vice President of Worldwide Financial Services at Microsoft, emphasised the innovative collaboration between Microsoft and LSEG on the DMI project. He highlighted the potential for the platform to reshape the future of global finance and drive meaningful change.
DMI is built on Microsoft Azure, adding to its scalability and resilience. This choice of infrastructure ensures that the platform can handle the demands of a growing digital asset market while maintaining high levels of security.
Dr. Darko Hajdukovic, Head of Digital Markets Infrastructure at LSEG, stated the intention to improve access to private markets and enhance efficiencies for both digitally-native and traditional assets. LSEG will utilise a range of its group's products and services, including Workspace, on the DMI platform.
Private funds admitted to DMI are discoverable by Workspace's users for day-to-day workflow interactions, further enhancing the platform's accessibility and usability.
LSEG's position as a convener of markets can bring significant scale to digital assets, effecting real change in the industry. The DMI platform is interoperable with current market solutions in distributed ledger technology as well as traditional finance, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of users.
As the first asset class to benefit from the DMI platform, private funds are set to experience blockchain-powered scale and efficiencies for the full asset lifecycle. Expansion to additional asset classes is planned, promising a bright future for the platform.
LSEG and Microsoft will continue their collaboration to develop and scale the DMI platform, further cementing their commitment to driving innovation in the digital finance space. The collaboration between these two industry giants is a testament to the potential of digital markets infrastructure to transform the global financial landscape.
