Lörrach Goes Paperless: Digital Building Permits from October 1, 2025
Lörrach is going paperless. From October 1, 2025, digital building permit applications will only be accepted, Mayor Jörg Lutz has announced. This move is part of the Digitalization of Building Procedure Act, passed in 2023.
The new system, called 'Virtual Building Office Baden-Württemberg' (ViBa BW), aims to make the building application process more transparent and efficient. Mayor Lutz highlighted the benefits for both citizens and the administration. Applicants can now track their applications online, and the administration can process them faster. The change follows the Digitalization of Building Procedure Act, passed in 2023. For assistance, the city provides a tutorial and standards on their website at www.loerrach.de/BuildingPermission.
Lörrach's digital shift for building permits begins on October 1, 2025. Applicants must use the ViBa BW system. The city encourages all to familiarize themselves with the new process using the resources available online.
