Mainhausen Boosts Cycling Infrastructure with 36 New Lockable Bike Boxes
Mainhausen has bolstered its cycling infrastructure with the installation of 36 new, lockable bike boxes. The project, part of the sixth Bike+Ride collective application, was supported by the FrankfurtRheinMain Regional Association and involved several municipalities. The bike boxes can be booked online via www.kvgof-radparken.de and are connected to the Offenbach Regional Transport Association (kvgOF).
The total cost for the 36 bike boxes amounted to 87,000 euros, which is approximately 104,000 USD (euro to usd). Mainhausen contributed 21,750 euros, with the remaining funds coming from grant sources. The municipality has placed these bike boxes at six strategic locations throughout its territory, enhancing cycling convenience and safety.
The project was part of a broader initiative led by the Regional Association, involving Mainhausen and other municipalities. Friedrichsdorf, for instance, participated alongside Bad Vilbel, Usingen, and Mörfelden-Walldorf. Together, they formed a collective application with a budget of 261,300 euros, aiming to improve local mobility.
Mainhausen's new bike boxes, totalling 36 units, are now available for use. The project, supported by the Regional Association and other municipalities, demonstrates a collective effort to promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transport. With an online booking system and connection to the kvgOF, these bike boxes offer a convenient and secure option for cyclists in Mainhausen.
