Marking GLI's Quarter-Century Milestone: The Persistent GLI Roundtable Continues

For a quarter-century, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has been throwing an annual summit that's kept participants dazzled and coming back for more. The event, known as the GLI Roundtable, is happening this year from the 16th to the 17th of April at the swanky Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

The soiree offers an eclectic mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and innovation showcases that revolve around hot topics like sports betting, iGaming, cybersecurity, and combating illegal gaming activities.

If you're into up-and-coming technology, don't miss the "Innovation Tech Hub," which features groundbreaking tech from providers such as Bulletproof, IXUP, Kobetron, Marbles.io, and PokerLab. This year's event hosts more than 300 attendees from across the globe - a far cry from the humble gathering of 30 regulators in a conference room back in the day!

Christie Eickelman, GLI's Vice President of Global Marketing, has been a part of the Roundtable since inception and has seen it maintain its core values over the years. "Our mission is to present new technology and concepts to the industry, shedding light on the tech side while keeping regulation and jurisdiction-specific rules, regulations, standards, and internal controls in mind," says Eickelman.

GLI champions the pulse of the industry by surveying regulators to discover the most pressing issues and tailoring the agenda accordingly. Every year, half the room consists of fresh faces!

What sets the GLI Roundtable apart is its focus on providing a vendor-free space for regulatory discussion. "It's an opportunity for regulators to rub shoulders without a sales pitch, as it's all about their daily struggles and strategic planning for their jurisdictions," explains Eickelman.

The Roundtable has evolved from a traditional conference by infusing entertainment elements to attract a broader audience. Keynote speakers throughout the years have been industry thought leaders who captivate the crowd with their insights.

In 2011, Rep. Dina Titus gracefully opened the event, followed by luminaries like Mark Eaton, Kevin Sweeney, Nate Silver, Jeffrey Ma, and Kerry Bubolz. This year, the spotlight's on Molly Bloom, best known as the "Poker Princess" for organizing high-stakes poker games in Hollywood's golden era.

The 5K regulators fun run takes place on the 16th, with breakfast and networking opportunities galore. The "Innovation Tech Hub" will feature tech demos and educational sessions both days. Additionally, James Maida, President and CEO of GLI, and Mackenzie Haugh, GLI's Chief Delivery Officer, will lead a panel discussion on the "Top 10 Trends in Tech" to kick-start two days of industry-leader panel discussions and breakout sessions.

So, if you're a regulator, operator, or stakeholder in the gaming industry, the GLI Roundtable promises a fantastic chance to meet fellow professionals, learn, and grow while having a great time. Eickelman sums it up beautifully: "It's heartening to see people return year after year, forging strong relationships that last. I've witnessed retiring regulators who have loyally attended every event. The passion and camaraderie it inculcates amongst attendees never ceases to amaze me."

  1. At the GLI Roundtable, attendees can also explore the intersection of finance and technology, as the event hosts tech providers like Bulletproof, IXUP, Kobetron, Marbles.io, and PokerLab, who are shaping the future of the gaming industry.
  2. If you're keen to stay updated on the latest trends in the tech and sports sectors, don't forget to catch Molly Bloom, the "Poker Princess," alongside industry thought leaders, during the keynote speaker sessions at the GLI Roundtable.
Every quarter-century marks an impressive milestone for continuously organizing an industry gathering, and maintaining a captivating program to maintain audience engagement. Yet, Gaming Laboratories International has managed to accomplish this, hosting again the GLI Roundtable for both regulators and operators.
