The tech giant Meta has unveiled its latest innovation, the Meta Ray-Ban Display, a pair of AI-powered smart glasses that promises to revolutionise the way we interact with technology. Scheduled for release on September 30 in various US stores, this screen-equipped device is designed for short bursts of user interaction and offers a host of features that make it stand out from the crowd.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display comes with a wrist-worn Meta Neural Band, which serves as a controller for the glasses. This wearable device allows users to scroll and click using finger gestures, similar to the Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch 8. The special feature of the new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses is the Meta Neural Band, which detects the smallest finger movements, enabling users to operate the glasses without voice commands or button presses.

In the future, users will even be able to 'write out messages using subtle finger movements' with the Meta Neural Band. The Meta Neural Band also offers IPX7-tier water resistance, ensuring it can withstand accidental splashes and light rain.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display features an in-lens display for media previews, calls, text, and AI interactions. This standalone, full-color, high-resolution display provides turn-by-turn navigation, captions, and language translation assistance. The glasses are tethered to WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and the connected phone, allowing users to stay connected on the go.

When used with the Meta Neural Band, the Meta Ray-Ban Display can last up to six hours per charge and extend up to 30 hours with the collapsible charging case. The Meta Neural Band can last up to 18 hours on a single charge.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display starts at $799 and includes the wrist-worn Meta Neural Band in the package. International sales for the Meta Ray-Ban Display will begin next year. With its innovative control mechanism and array of useful features, the Meta Ray-Ban Display is set to redefine the smart glasses market.
