Michelin Appoints Jason Tan as New MD for Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar
Michelin has appointed Jason Tan as the new Managing Director for Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, effective July 1, 2025. Tan, previously heading Michelin's Passenger Vehicle Business for Asia-Pacific, succeeds an unnamed predecessor. The appointment comes as Michelin continues to grow in the region, with a strategic focus on sustainability and innovation.
Michelin's commitment to sustainability is evident in its 'All Sustainable' approach, which aligns with Vietnam's own green goals. The company has been operating in Vietnam since 2009, providing a wide range of tires and recently inaugurating its 100th Michelin Car Service centre in the country. With a projected GDP of $510 billion in 2025 and a strong focus on digital and green transitions, Vietnam is a strategic market for Michelin.
Tan brings a proven track record to his new role. He successfully led the launch of the Michelin Primacy 5 tire line across the Asia-Pacific market. His primary focus will be to advance Michelin's sustainable mobility solutions in the region. Michelin's annual R&D budget of $1.2 billion, with over 12,000 active patents worldwide, underscores the company's commitment to innovation. The 'Motion for life' brand campaign showcases these innovations, including driverless vehicles and wing-sails for merchant marine vessels.
Jason Tan's appointment reflects Michelin's recognition of the region's strategic importance and commitment to growth and sustainability. With Tan at the helm, Michelin Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar are poised to further advance the company's 'All Sustainable' approach, contributing to Vietnam's green transition and expanding Michelin's sustainable mobility solutions.
