Millimeter-wave Transceiver from ASKM Detects Kids, Falls, and Various Scenarios
At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) is set to demonstrate the capabilities of its cutting-edge AK581x millimeter-wave radar transceiver technology. The demonstrations will take place at the LVCC North Hall, Booth #11051.
The AK581x transceiver, operating at 60 GHz, offers accurate, high-resolution detection with automotive-level reliability. When combined with Pontosense's software, it enables simultaneous detection of multiple persons' respiratory rates and positions, showcasing the versatility and potential for various applications.
One of the key demonstrations will focus on promoting safety and independence for the elderly. A setup to simulate elder care monitoring using the radar solution will be featured at the booth. This demonstration aims to highlight the AK581x's potential beyond child presence detection, extending into promoting safety and independence for the elderly.
Another demonstration will involve a vehicle equipped with the AK581x system for a Child Presence Detection (CPD) demonstration. When combined with Pontosense's software, the AK581x can wirelessly detect children left behind in cars within seconds, aiming to exceed current vehicle regulations and standards for CPD globally.
Gregg Rouse, President of AKM Semiconductor, Inc., emphasised the significance of emerging technologies like the AKM's AK581x. He stated that these technologies could make a significant difference in reducing injuries from situations like children being left in hot vehicles and older adults suffering from falls.
The AK581x's capabilities will also be showcased in a setup demonstrating its seamless integration into various products and environments. The goal is to demonstrate how the AK581x solution can be integrated into a wide range of applications, from automotive to elder care, providing a solution that is flexible and adaptable to various needs.
The AKM booth at CES 2024 promises to be an exciting showcase of the possibilities offered by the AK581x millimeter-wave radar transceiver technology. Visitors can look forward to a comprehensive display of the AK581x's capabilities and its potential to make a real difference in promoting safety and independence for both children and the elderly.
