To be eligible, startups must be headquartered in Africa, under 2 years old, operating in sports or creative industries, offering a tech-enabled solution with clear market value, have a proof-of-concept prototype with scalability and profitability potential, have at least two co-founders working full-time, preferably be registered as a company, and not have participated in similar accelerator programs recently.
The application process requires founders to complete an online application that takes about 60 minutes. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a deadline typically set, such as August 29, 2025, for the latest program.
For the top startups, benefits include enrollment in a 10-week mentorship program featuring NBA Africa leaders, ServiceNow, ALX executive mentors, and other corporate stakeholders. This mentorship programme focuses on product development, business growth, and go-to-market strategies. For the top 5 winners, up to $50,000 in cash and value-in-kind benefits each are available.
Last year, ten finalists were selected to pitch their products at the program's first Demo Day, and the top 5 prize-winning companies - Festival Coins (Nigeria), Salubata (Nigeria), HustleSasa (Kenya), UBR VR (Egypt), and another unnamed startup - were awarded financial support and mentorship. The top 10 startups will be selected after the application period, and the top five prize-winning companies will be selected at the second Demo Day in December.
