New TEAC CD player boasts "untainted" sound quality, albeit with a hefty price tag attached
The Japanese hi-fi audio manufacturer, TEAC, is set to release its latest offering in the fourth quarter of 2025 - the PD-507T, a high-end CD transport that promises to deliver the purest possible signal to your Digital-to-Analogue Converter (DAC).
Part of the Reference 500 series, the PD-507T is a significant investment for those seeking a superior CD listening experience. Each digital output in the PD-507T has its own power supply, ensuring optimal performance and signal purity.
The PD-507T supports audio CDs, CD-R, and CD-RW, but it does not support Super Audio CD (SACD). It boasts a broadcast-spec transport mechanism, fine-tuned with custom parts and new circuitry, to provide a smooth and precise playback.
The PD-507T is designed to match other Reference 500 series hardware, featuring an amber-coloured OLED below the disc tray for easy navigation. It offers two digital outputs - one coaxial and one optical - and the option to turn off the unused output to ensure signal purity.
The PD-507T's core is TEAC's proprietary transport mechanism, based on the CD-5020A. An external 10MHz master clock generator can be added to further improve its sound quality.
The PD-507T is available in black or silver finishes, and it comes with a recommended retail price of £1,299 / $1,699.99 / €1,299 (approximately AU$2,659). With its focus on delivering a pure signal and extensive isolation, the TEAC PD-507T is a must-have for audiophiles seeking a premium CD listening experience.
