Nightpeak Energy's 150MW Bocanova Power Battery Facility Now Operational in Texas
Nightpeak Energy's latest project, Bocanova Power, has begun operating in Brazoria County, Texas. Cary Perrin, the President and CEO of the Northern Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce, warmly welcomed the new battery storage facility and its developer.
Bocanova Power is a 2-hour duration battery storage project, located in the heart of Texas. It operates under a long-term power purchase agreement with an investment-grade power purchaser, revealed to be Shell. The facility, which reached commercial operation in August 2025, is providing flexible power to support the Houston region's peak capacity needs.
The project is a testament to Nightpeak Energy's speed and efficiency. Patrick Klein, Managing Director, Project Finance Americas at MUFG, praised the project for contributing to a more resilient and independent energy future. Nord/LB and MUFG Bank served as co-lead arrangers on the debt financing for the project. Paris Hays, Co-founder and CEO/CDO of Nightpeak Energy, expressed pride in the project, highlighting Nightpeak's commitment to delivering affordable, reliable, and secure power. The facility utilises Tesla's Megapack 2 XL battery storage systems, manufactured in Lathrop, California.
Nightpeak Energy, with a portfolio of 240 MW of battery storage and natural gas generation facilities, continues to expand its footprint in Texas and the Western U.S. This latest project, Bocanova Power, is a 150 MW battery storage facility.
Nightpeak Energy's Bocanova Power facility, located in Brazoria County, Texas, is now operational.
