Nio unveils premium editions of ET5, ET5 Touring, and EC6 models, with higher price tags attached.
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has launched Champion Edition variants for its ET5 sedan, ET5 Touring wagon, and EC6 coupe SUV, commemorating the company's first-ever annual drivers' championship title in the 2015 Formula E Championship.
The new models, introduced in May 2025, come with several key upgrades and enhancements. The central display has been changed from a vertical orientation to a horizontal layout, improving the user interface and in-car experience. The Nvidia Orin X chip used in previous versions has been replaced with Nio's in-house developed Shenji NX9031 chip, enhancing the vehicles' intelligent driving capabilities.
The Champion Edition models also feature an exclusive exterior design inspired by the championship-winning race car. They offer a range of exterior color options for both the ET5 and ET5 Touring, and the EC6. The ET5 and ET5 Touring Champion Editions come standard with the Moon exterior theme package, which includes green high-performance brake calipers, matte metal accents, and an exclusive Champion Edition badge.
In terms of pricing, the new Champion Edition models have a slight price increase compared to standard models. The ET5 and ET5 Touring Champion Editions start at 316,000 yuan (6.04% increase over the base 298,000 yuan models). The EC6 Champion Edition starts at 370,000 yuan (3.35% increase over the standard 358,000 yuan model). Under the Battery as a Service (BaaS) purchasing scheme, the starting price for the ET5 and ET5 Touring Champion Editions is RMB 246,000, higher than the standard versions' RMB 228,000. Under the same scheme, the starting price for the EC6 Champion Edition is RMB 300,000, higher than the standard version's RMB 288,000.
However, Nio is offering purchase incentives for Champion Edition models, including 5 years of interest-free financing, 240 free battery swaps for 5 years, and 5 years of free NOP+ usage. Customers purchasing the ET5, ET5 Touring Champion Edition models can receive a free comfort package worth RMB 9,500 and a discount on the carbon fiber package. Similarly, customers purchasing the EC6 Champion Edition can receive a free comfort package worth RMB 9,500.
In June 2025, the updated ET5 Touring became Nio's top-selling model for the month, surpassing the ES6 SUV in deliveries for the first time since its launch. In Europe, Nio launched a 0% financing campaign for ET5 and ET5 Touring models to boost sales, reflecting efforts to attract more buyers in competitive markets.
Display vehicles for the Champion Edition models are currently available at Nio stores. Interested customers can lock in orders for the Champion Edition models, with deliveries set to begin on July 9. Nio's stock symbol is NYSE: NIO.
