Gun Ownership? Raid on Suspected Far-Right Extremists in OWL - North Rhine-Westphalia Raids Target New Right-Wing Extremist 'Active Clubs' Network
Authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia have launched a significant operation targeting a new network of right-wing extremist groups, known as the 'Active Clubs'. The raids, conducted in multiple cities, focused on suspected illegal weapons possession and online activities.
The Active Clubs, a relatively new network, combine right-wing extremism with a focus on health, fitness, strength, and combat sports. Last year, three such groups were established in North Rhine-Westphalia: AC Niederrhein, AC Nordrhein, and AC Ostwestfalen.
The raids took place in cities including Porta-Westfalica, Herford, Bielefeld, Lünen, and Minden. Six men, allegedly part of the AC Ostwestfalen group, are suspected of dealing with weapons on forums and social media platforms. Authorities targeted several apartments in East Westphalia, with a particular focus on the group's leader, believed to reside in Minden. However, searches did not yield information about the chairman suspected of illegal weapons possession.
The operation highlights the growing concern over the spread of right-wing extremist groups and their potential access to illegal weapons. Authorities continue to investigate the matter, with more details expected to emerge in the coming days.
