Northwest US Embracing Solar Power: Idaho's 125 MW Pleasant Valley Solar 2 Project Set for 2026
The northwestern United States is embracing solar power to meet its growing electricity demand. Idaho's Pleasant Valley Solar 2 project, a 125 MW venture, is set to open in 2026, supplying power to Idaho Power and Meta's data center. rPlus Energies has secured $100 million in tax equity funding for this project.
The region's land, suitable for large-scale solar projects, supports future expansion. The project uses Thornova Solar PV modules on Nextracker trackers and Ingeteam inverters. Sundt Renewables is handling engineering, procurement, and construction. Financing comes from rPlus Energies, Natixis, Citibank, and Jefferies. The project's proximity to Boise ensures easy interconnection.
Demand for reliable solar power is surging, driven by high-tech manufacturing projects like Micron's $15 billion plant in Ada County. Pleasant Valley Solar 2 will join the recently commissioned 200 MW Solar Valley 1 project in supporting local power needs.
Pleasant Valley Solar 2, with its $100 million funding, is on track to open in early summer 2026. It will provide clean energy to Idaho Power and Meta's data center, demonstrating the region's commitment to renewable energy solutions.
