Notable Art Series from Pop Culture to Debut in Hardcover Book Form

Get Ready for a Visual Feast: "Eyes Without a Face," a Pop Culture Art Series, Goes Books!

Hey kids, get ready to immerse yourself in a stunning visual journey! Nearly a decade ago, artist Jason Edmiston conjured up an innovative concept - he would capture our beloved pop culture characters by simply painting their eyes. This intriguing series, dubbed "Eyes Without a Face," has quickly become the talk of the town and taken over the pop culture art scene. With two gallery shows and over 400 paintings under its belt, this art sensation is now getting its very own book!

Jason Edmiston spilled the beans to io9, confessing, "I felt very early on in the creation of the series that these paintings could be eventually be compiled into a decent sized book." The 288-page hardcover book is set to debut at San Diego Comic-Con. The book showcases the entire history of the series to date, and according to Edmiston, "My goal was to elaborate in a variety of ways: size, theme, color, emotions, even breaking a few rules when the subject called for it."

Take a gander at the cover and check out six exclusive spreads from the book below! You'll notice each page includes not just the final painting but also the sketch Edmiston does to prepare for it. Edmiston is particularly fond of the double-page spreads, saying, "They fit the format of the series' proportions perfectly, and the paintings fill the picture plane...this creates a great impact when you turn the page, and that piece strikes you in the face."

The book will be hitting the shelves on Jason Edmiston's official website, jasonedmiston.com, in late August/early September. However, if you're attending San Diego Comic-Con, get your mitts on the first 100 copies at booth 4617 for a cool $100! That'll score you the book and a special brand-new "Eyes Without a Face" print featuring a familiar face (figuratively speaking, of course)!

If you're in San Diego, zip on over to booth 4617 to check out the book and stay tuned to Edmiston's social media for updates.
