NYT Proposals and Responses for Sunday's Crossword Puzzle, December 29th
Hey there, peeps! If you're scouring the web for Saturday's Strands hints, spangram, and answers, look no further!
How to Play Strands
The New York Times' Strands puzzle is an enjoyable spin on the classic word search. You can find it on the NYT website and in the NYT Games app, alongside gems like Wordle and Connections.
New games of Strands are available every day. In this six by eight grid of letters, you should search for a group of words that share a common trait. You'll receive a hint pointing towards the theme. When you find a theme word, it will be highlighted in blue.
Finding a special word called a spangram is also crucial. This word shows the commonality between the theme words. The spangram can link at least two sides of the board, but it doesn't have to start or end there. Proper names can be used as spangrams. Once found, the spangram will be highlighted in yellow.
Every letter is utilized exactly once in one of the theme words or spangram. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, and you can even switch directions mid-word! If you're using a touchscreen, double tap the last letter to submit your guess.
If you discover three valid words of at least four letters that aren't part of the theme, you'll unlock the "Hint" button. When you click this, the letters forming one of the theme words will be highlighted.
Remember: stay sharp! Sometimes, you'll need to complete a missing word in a phrase. Other times, the game might revolve around synonyms or homophones. The difficulty fluctuates daily, and the creators might throw you a curveball.
