OpenAI's Orion: The Next Big Leap in AI, Coming December 2023
OpenAI is set to unveil its latest advanced AI model, Orion, by December 2023. With multimodal capabilities, it could potentially replace GPT-4. Microsoft developers are expected to gain access in November, while Orion will initially be offered to collaborating companies for unique feature creation.
Orion's release comes after OpenAI raised $6.6 billion in funding, valuing the company at $157 billion. Meanwhile, OpenAI's AGI Readiness department, led by Miles Brandage, has been disbanded, leading to staff redistribution. According to The Verge, Microsoft and its associated products, such as Microsoft Copilot, will be among the first to access Orion in November.
OpenAI is also developing GPT Next, a model 100 times more powerful than its predecessors. This ambitious project aims for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), marking a significant step in AI evolution.
Orion's release and Microsoft's early access signal a new era in AI capabilities. OpenAI's continued investment and development, including GPT Next, position the company at the forefront of AI innovation.
