Oracle incorporates the GPT-5 model from OpenAI into its assortment of applications.
Oracle and OpenAI Collaborate to Enhance Business Workflows
Oracle has announced that it will embed OpenAI's latest AI model, GPT-5, into its Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. This integration aims to enhance workflows across various departments by delivering greater accuracy and depth in business insights and recommendations.
The collaboration between Oracle and OpenAI is not a new development, as the companies have already expanded their partnership last week. This partnership also involves Oracle's integration with Google's most advanced AI models, as Oracle has partnered with Google Cloud, bringing Gemini 2.5 AI models into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's Generative AI service.
GPT-5, developed by OpenAI, is designed specifically for code generation, editing, and debugging. The integration of GPT-5 with Oracle's systems is aimed at improving multi-step reasoning and process orchestration. This is expected to speed up code generation, bug resolution, and documentation, ultimately leading to increased productivity.
Oracle's SQLcl MCP Server allows GPT-5 to easily access data in Oracle Database, enabling users to search across all their data, run secure AI-powered operations, and use generative AI directly from SQL. The combination of Oracle Database 23ai and GPT-5 is expected to help enterprises achieve breakthrough insights, innovation, and productivity.
However, the reception for GPT-5, OpenAI's newest AI model, was mixed. Some users compared it unfavorably to GPT-4o, leading to the restoration of access to GPT-4o. Despite this, Oracle has chosen OpenAI's GPT-5 for integration across its database suite and SaaS applications.
Oracle AI Vector and Select AI, along with GPT-5, enable easier and more effective data search and analysis. The integration of GPT-5 into Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications is expected to enable the creation of AI agents for multimodal tasks within Oracle environments.
It's worth noting that Oracle's partnership with Google Cloud is separate from the Stargate initiative with OpenAI. Furthermore, Oracle plans to extend access to Google's full Gemini suite through Vertex AI.
In essence, this collaboration between Oracle and OpenAI marks a significant step forward in the integration of AI technology into business operations, promising to revolutionize workflows and deliver unprecedented insights and productivity.
