New Multi-Purpose Boat Strengthens Fire and Disaster Protection in the District

On August 28, 2025, the Woerth fire department officially received its new multi-purpose boat, marking a significant milestone in the district's fire and disaster protection. The handover ceremony was attended by State Councilor Tanja Schweiger.

The new boat, a crucial main deployment tool for the fire department, is designed to perform a wide range of tasks, including rescue operations, combating oil spills, and dealing with flood situations. It strengthens the fire department's capabilities, ensuring quick and reliable assistance on the Danube and its tributaries.

The previous multi-purpose boat, which served the department for 29 years, was replaced due to the scarcity and high cost of spare parts. The fire service guidelines recommend replacing such equipment after 30 years. The then district fire chief, Wolfgang Scheuerer, initiated the replacement acquisition of the boat in 2024.

The test drive of the new boat, conducted on August 31, 2025, demonstrated its power and capabilities. The boat's reliability is considered essential for the safety of the fire department forces and the population.

The replacement acquisition of the boat was financially supported by funds from the Free State of Bavaria. State Councilor Tanja Schweiger stated that the new boat is an important gain for the safety of citizens.

The multi-purpose boat plays an important role in the protection of the population throughout the district. It is used for drawing barriers into the water during oil incidents, supporting searches for missing persons, carrying out evacuations, combating fires from the water side, and contributing to the supra-regional task area according to the Bavarian Fire Protection Act.

While specific details about the boat's dimensions, speed, or crew were not provided, it is clear that this new addition to the Woerth fire department is a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and well-being of the district's residents.
