Peugeot has unveiled the latest addition to its performance lineup, the 208 GTi, now in an electric avatar. The new model, dubbed the Peugeot E-208 GTi, marks the first electric Peugeot to carry the iconic GTi badge, combining Peugeot Sport expertise with cutting-edge electric technology.

### Key Features and Specifications of the Peugeot E-208 GTi:

The E-208 GTi is equipped with a front-mounted M4+ electric motor delivering around 276-280 horsepower (345 Nm of torque), significantly more powerful than the previous petrol 208 GTi and even more potent than the standard E-208 electric model. With a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 112 mph, it is one of the fastest vehicles in the B-segment and rivals some rear-drive electric performance sedans.

The car houses a 54 kWh CATL battery with optimized thermal management and sporty use protection, offering a WLTP range of approximately 217 miles. Charging supports up to 100 kW DC fast charging, achieving 20-80% charge in under 30 minutes, plus 7.4 kW AC charging.

The chassis is specially tuned by Peugeot Sport with widened tracks (56 mm front, 27 mm rear), a 30 mm lowered body, upgraded springs and shock absorbers with hydraulic stops, a stiffer rear anti-roll bar, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. A limited-slip differential integrated into the reducer optimizes cornering, agility, efficiency, and stability. The E-208 GTi also features upgraded 14-inch front brakes with 4-piston calipers and unique steering tuning for sharp handling, influenced by Peugeot’s hypercar racing experience.

### Relationship to the 205 GTi:

The 205 GTi is a historic benchmark in Peugeot's performance heritage, widely regarded as one of the greatest hot hatches of its era. The new E-208 GTi is positioned as a modern electric successor that revives the GTi spirit by delivering sporty performance, sharp handling, and driver engagement in an electrified package. Peugeot emphasizes the E-208 GTi as a blend of emotion and technology, ensuring it lives up to the legacy of the 205 GTi while setting new standards in electric hot hatch performance.

### Position as the First Electric Peugeot to Wear a GTi Badge:

The E-208 GTi is the first Peugeot electric vehicle officially to bear the GTi badge, marking a significant milestone in the brand's electrification and performance strategy. It is designed to offer “more pleasure, more GTi than ever,” combining the thrills associated with GTi models and the benefits of electric driving, such as instant torque and responsive handling with innovative energy management.

Inside, the E-208 GTi features red carpets, floor mats, seat belts, sports seats with red trim, a compact steering wheel trimmed in red leather and Alcantara. The exterior boasts flared wheelarches, 18-inch alloy wheels resembling classic Speedline rims, a chunkier splitter, a gloss black rear diffuser with an LED fog light, and the option for bright red paintwork.

The Peugeot 208 E-GTI is expected to go on sale later this year, with UK prices and specifications to be confirmed closer to the release date. With its powerful performance, advanced chassis engineering, and electric technology, the E-208 GTi redefines the GTi legacy as a high-performance electric hot hatch, paying tribute to the iconic 205 GTi while pioneering Peugeot's GTi future in electrification.
