Polestar Unveils New Model: Combining Functionality, Aesthetic Appeal, and a Dusting of Star Quality in the Polestar 4

The Polestar 4, a fresh addition to the electric vehicle market, is making waves as a compact coupé SUV that combines performance, technology, and practicality with a distinctive Scandinavian design ethos.

This new model offers two electric powertrain options: a single motor version producing 272 horsepower and a range of up to 300 miles, and a dual motor version delivering an impressive 544 horsepower, making it the fastest in Polestar’s lineup with a 0-60 mph time of approximately 3.7-3.8 seconds. The dual motor version also boasts a range of about 272 miles.

The Polestar 4 boasts a smooth ride, composed handling, and strong braking and steering confidence. It is equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack featuring a 94 kWh usable capacity and a 400-volt architecture supporting up to 200 kW fast charging.

Measuring 190.5 inches in length, 84.2 inches in width (including mirrors), and 60.4 inches in height, the Polestar 4 has a wheelbase of 2999 mm. The SUV offers a cargo capacity of 18.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expandable to 54.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The front trunk adds an additional 0.5 cubic feet.

Inside, the Polestar 4 seats up to 5 passengers, though the rear center seat is less comfortable. Standard knit upholstery is offered, with synthetic or Nappa leather options available. The Plus Pack adds power-reclining rear seats.

The Polestar 4's technology suite includes a 15.4-inch central touchscreen with a Google-based infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and eight standard speakers (12 speakers with the Plus Pack). The Plus Pack also adds a rear control screen and a 14.7-inch head-up display.

Safety features are comprehensive, including radar, 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and more.

The Polestar 4's boot features LED lighting, cargo netting, a 12V outlet, and an optional hands-free power tailgate. No spare wheel is provided.

The Polestar 4's single-motor version starts from £59,990, while the long-range dual motor begins at £66,990. The SUV is noted for its confident and composed driving dynamics, providing a smooth and engaging ride characteristic of a premium electric coupe SUV.

With its powerful electric motor, extensive technology, and helpful safety features, the Polestar 4 is a strong competitor in the electric compact coupe SUV segment. It is a more adventurous offering from Polestar in terms of design and style, and is considered understated and elegant, with a fun element that catches a passing eye. The Polestar 4 is one of the more well-established electric vehicle manufacturers, along with Tesla and Nissan.
