Prepared for 5G and future technologies, Türk Telekom advances with extensive fiber network.
In the heart of Tuřkiye, the country is gearing up for its 5G rollout, with the scheduled spectrum auction set for October 2025 [1][3][5]. The government will auction 11 frequency packages in the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands, aiming for full nationwide coverage within a few years after launch.
Leading the charge is Türk Telekom, a telecom and technology powerhouse in Tuřkiye. With over half of its LTE base stations already fiber-connected [4][5], the company is technically ready for 5G deployment. Türk Telekom's extensive fiber network spans 496,000 kilometers and covers 33.5 million households [2][6].
The company's strategic investments and ongoing R&D in partnership with other businesses ensure its readiness and leadership in Turkey's 5G transition once licenses are awarded [2][4][5]. In the second quarter of 2025, Türk Telekom reported a 13.2% year-over-year revenue increase to TL 50.4 billion ($1.23 billion) [7].
Beyond 5G, the global health technologies sector is expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2030, driven by innovative solutions such as AI, digital health platforms, telehealth services, wearable devices, and health data analytics [1].
In Tuřkiye, health technology startup Mamosis is making waves with its AI-powered platform that interprets mammography scans to detect cancer indicators. The platform aims to accelerate treatment, reduce costs, and improve healthcare efficiency [8]. Mamosis recently completed its crowdfunding round with overwhelming investor interest, thanks to its breakthrough technology that can diagnose breast cancer in just five seconds [9].
The startup is particularly impactful in rural areas due to its PACS integration and mobile accessibility, making quality healthcare more accessible for all [10].
Meanwhile, the Turkish crypto asset ecosystem is expanding, with crypto asset service providers now granted the status of financial institutions [11]. One such platform, Kuantist, has secured investment at a $35 million valuation, aiming to expand its team of financial professionals and accelerate product development [12].
Over the past 12 months, Türk Telekom gained more than 2.5 million net postpaid mobile subscribers, a new record [13]. The company added 678,000 net mobile subscribers in the April-June period, bringing its total mobile user base to 28.5 million [6].
In a significant move, the Trump administration has reached a deal with Nvidia and AMD to resume AI chip sales to China, on the condition that 15% of the revenue from those sales is transferred to Washington [14]. However, the deal has drawn criticism from national security experts and Republican lawmakers [15].
Türk Telekom is nearing the renewal of its fixed-line concession agreement, which is set to expire in 2026 [16]. As the country moves towards the future, it's clear that Tuřkiye's tech sector is poised for growth and innovation.
