Presidential candidates PRG, VUE, and Yamaha clash in a heated CNN debate over various political issues.

The second CNN GOP debate, held at the Air Force One Pavilion in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, showcased an exceptional audio solution that ensured crystal-clear sound quality for both the live event and broadcast. This cutting-edge implementation, a collaboration between industry leaders Yamaha, VUE Audiotechnik, Meyer Sound, and Lab.Gruppen, aimed to provide a seamless sound experience that balanced the needs of the live audience with broadcast requirements.

At the heart of the audio setup was Yamaha's digital mixing console, providing flexible, high-quality audio control and mixing capabilities that handled the complex demands of multiple microphones and live sound reinforcement. The innovative VUE Audiotechnik loudspeaker systems, renowned for exceptional clarity and intelligibility, were strategically placed under the seats, offering even coverage throughout the pavilion.

Meyer Sound contributed robust sound reinforcement components, including speakers and acoustic management tools, which ensured a consistent audio experience in the challenging large open space of the Air Force One Pavilion. Meanwhile, Lab.Gruppen supplied powerful and reliable amplification units, driving the loudspeakers with clean power and headroom, ensuring no distortion or dropouts during the live broadcast.

The audio system was split into four zones, making it possible to make changes on the fly. Each VUE Audiotechnik i-2×4.5 speaker was connected to an amplifier channel, providing 24 separate audio zones with eleven foldback circuits. Four Meyer Sound Galileo 616 speaker management systems were used to control the setup, while Rio 1608 stage boxes were connected using Audinate's Dante network over CAT5e.

The audio quality was not impaired despite the setup being barely visible when the audience took their seats. Mark Boettcher and his team designed this out-of-the-ordinary audio design in just two days, showcasing their expertise in creating innovative and effective solutions for high-profile political events.

The collaborative use of Yamaha, VUE Audiotechnik, Meyer Sound, and Lab.Gruppen equipment was central to the success of the audio system at the debate. Although specific technical details such as exact models and system configuration were not provided, this multidisciplinary implementation highlights the potential of combining top-tier audio equipment from multiple industry leaders to create an innovative and effective solution for high-profile events.

Technology played a crucial role in the exceptional audio solution at the second CNN GOP debate. Yamaha's digital mixing console and Lab.Gruppen's amplification units, both representatives of advanced technology, were instrumental in providing flexible, high-quality audio control and clean power to the system.
