Proposal presented to construct Ronin L2 on Orbit chain by Arbitrum
Ronin Blockchain Embraces Arbitrum Orbit for Enhanced Gaming and DeFi Platform
Ronin blockchain, a gaming-centric platform developed by Sky Mavis, is set to benefit significantly from its transition into an L2 network on Ethereum, specifically Arbitrum Orbit. This move aims to establish Ronin as "the gamification engine of Ethereum".
The shift to Arbitrum Orbit brings several key advantages over other Ethereum L2 solutions. One of the most notable is the native support for Ronin's token (RON) as the gas token, enabling seamless transaction fee payments within the Ronin ecosystem without compromises.
Moreover, Arbitrum Orbit promises significantly faster transactions – up to 12x faster – improving user experience, particularly for gaming and DeFi applications. This speed boost is expected to enhance the overall performance of Axie Infinity, a game that launched on the Ronin blockchain in 2021.
In addition, the customizable infrastructure and self-governance offered by Arbitrum Orbit allows Ronin to tailor its blockchain governance and operational parameters to the specific needs of the gaming and Web3 communities it targets. This customization enhances long-term sustainability by making validator participation more economically efficient and attractive.
Arbitrum Orbit also offers optimized validator fee revenue, which supports greater developer and institutional adoption. Furthermore, it ensures full Ethereum compatibility without technical compromises, unlike some other L2s which might require hacks or workarounds that reduce upgradeability and flexibility.
Strategic gaming ecosystem support via Arbitrum Gaming Ventures provides business and community backing that extends beyond just technical benefits and fosters growth in Web3 gaming integration. This support aligns Ronin more closely with Ethereum’s ecosystem, enhancing interoperability and security.
In summary, Arbitrum Orbit's combination of native token gas support, tech flexibility, fast transactions, governance customization, and deep gaming ecosystem integration offers Ronin a uniquely tailored L2 environment. This move advances Ronin beyond a simple Ethereum rollup into a specialized gaming and DeFi platform aligned fully with Ethereum’s security and ecosystem. This contrasts with other L2s that may focus more generically on scalability without these integrated gaming community and customization features.
As for Arbitrum crypto's price, it currently stands above $0.50, but has seen a slight pullback. Meanwhile, Ronin blockchain supports cross-chain non-fungible tokens and decentralized finance applications, expanding beyond its gaming-centric model with the recent launch of Open Ronin via Project Leviosa.
