Rail lighting installation along Saarbrücken's railway has been successfully finished

In the heart of Saarbrücken, the capital city of Germany's Saarland region, a significant transformation has taken place along the popular walking and cycling path known as the Leinpfad. The city has completed the installation of an intelligent and eco-friendly lighting system, a project that extends from the Hochschule für Musik Saar (HfM) to the Heizkraftwerk Römerbrücke, spanning approximately 1.5 kilometers.

Fifty-five new lighting poles have been installed and connected along this stretch, replacing the previous unlit areas. The new lights are dimmable, digitally controllable, and insect-friendly, emitting a warm 3000 Kelvin light. This smart lighting system is not only a step towards a more sustainable city but also aims to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists using the Leinpfad.

The brightness of each light can be automatically adjusted according to the actual pedestrian frequency, ensuring an optimal level of illumination at all times. During the planning and execution of the construction works, care was taken to protect the existing tree stock in the green spaces.

The total costs of this construction measure amount to approximately 325,000 euros. The Mayor of Saarbrücken, Uwe Conradt, has commented on this project, expressing his support for the city's commitment to smart and eco-friendly solutions.

For those interested in learning more about the Smart City Development Plan, further information can be found on the city's website, www.saarbruecken.de/smartcity. All parameters of the new lighting system can be adjusted at any time via the digital system, allowing for flexibility and adaptability to local conditions.

This project is just one example of Saarbrücken's dedication to creating a smarter, more sustainable city. By investing in innovative solutions like this, the city is not only improving the quality of life for its residents but also setting an example for other cities to follow.
