Rapid expansion of Malaysian RDS bolstered by addition of two new allied entities
RDS Partnership, a leading law firm in Malaysia, has announced the appointment of two new partners, Sharifah Sazita and Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman. These appointments are set to bolster the firm's corporate practice and expand its capabilities in various sectors.
Sharifah Sazita, with over 30 years of experience in project advisory, brings her expertise in public-private partnerships (PPPs), energy, infrastructure, utilities, and public policy to the table. She has extensive experience advising on construction and engineering contracts, operations and maintenance agreements, and technical services contracts, having worked on projects in Malaysia, Qatar, Southeast Asia, Kuwait, Oman, Dubai, Pakistan, Iraq, and Jordan.
In addition to her expertise, Sharifah Sazita will head RDS’s Middle East desk, providing valuable insights and advice to clients from the Middle East on projects and investments in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region. She has previously worked at Foong & Partners and Azmi & Associates in Malaysia, as well as with law firms such as Bennett Jones and Al Tamimi & Company in Qatar.
Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman, with around 10 years of experience in corporate, commercial, and real estate law, will complement Sharifah Sazita's appointment. Her practice includes project financing, conveyancing, commercial documentation, acquisitions and disposals, and procurement deals in both public and private sectors. Prior to joining RDS Partnership, Hurriyyah had her own legal practice and has also practiced with Malaysian firms Zul Rafique & Partners, Feroz & Co, and Kadir Andri & Partners.
These appointments mark a significant growth for RDS Partnership, which added five other partners in February this year and Teo Siang Ly from Christopher & Lee Ong in April. The current number of partners at RDS Partnership stands at 26.
With these new additions, RDS Partnership is poised to offer enhanced services in technology, energy, manufacturing, Islamic finance, construction, and regulatory advisory in both Malaysian and Middle Eastern legal markets. The firm is confident that the combined expertise of its partners will provide clients with the best possible solutions for their legal needs.
- The finance sector can expect improved legal services as Sharifah Sazita, with her expertise in project advisory and focus on public-private partnerships, will lead RDS Partnership's enhanced Islamic finance capabilities.
- Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman's extensive experience in corporate, commercial, and real estate law, particularly in project financing and procurement deals, strengthens RDS Partnership's capacity to offer premium services in the technology and construction industries, both in Malaysia and the Middle East.
