Raytheon's ADVEW System for F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Clears Major Milestone
Raytheon has successfully completed a major review of its Advanced Electronic Warfare (ADVEW) system for the U.S. Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. The Critical Design Review, held on September 22, 2025, marked a significant milestone in enhancing the aircraft's detection and countermeasure capabilities against advanced electronic threats.
The ADVEW system aims to boost the Super Hornet's survivability in contested environments. The successful review validated both hardware and software progress, ensuring alignment with the government's reference architecture. Raytheon described this milestone as crucial for advancing the program on the Navy's accelerated fielding schedule.
Following the review, the next demonstration of the ADVEW system is planned for the coming months. This will include integration tests, flight demonstrations, and delivery of initial sets for government trials. A Test Plan Working Group was held to coordinate in-flight performance evaluations. The system's software has been successfully integrated with flight-representative hardware and other defensive subsystems, paving the way for these upcoming tests.
The ADVEW system's successful Critical Design Review clears the path for further demonstrations and delivery of shipsets for government-led integration testing. These steps will ultimately enhance the U.S. Navy's Super Hornet fleet, equipping them with advanced electronic warfare capabilities to face modern threats.
