ReconAfrica Drills Deep in Namibia's Kavango West, Hopes for Oil and Gas Reserves

ReconAfrica, a Canadian oil and gas company, is drilling an exploration well in the Kavango West region of northeastern Namibia. The well, named Kavango West 1X, is testing a large structural closure in the Otavi section, measuring nearly 20 kilometres by 3 kilometres. The company is committed to minimal environmental disturbance and implementing best practices in the area.

ReconAfrica is currently drilling ahead into the Otavi carbonate reservoir, the primary target in the Damara Fold Belt. The well is expected to penetrate approximately 1,500 metres of potential reservoir before reaching total depth at around 3,800 metres. The company anticipates reaching this depth in the second half of November.

The company operates in the Damara Fold Belt and Kavango Rift Basin, holding petroleum licenses and access to about 13 million contiguous acres across northeastern Namibia, southeastern Angola, and northwestern Botswana. An extensive logging program will commence once the well reaches total depth, with results expected around year-end. ReconAfrica also operates the Ngulu block in the shallow waters offshore Gabon.

ReconAfrica provides contact emails for investor and media inquiries at [email protected] and [email protected] respectively. The company's exploration efforts in the Kavango West region are significant, with the potential to uncover substantial oil and gas reserves. The upcoming logging program will provide crucial insights into the well's findings, with results expected by the end of the year.
