Review of Asus ProArt PA32QCV 6K Professional Monitor: Abundant Pixels, Vibrant Colors, and High Brightness
The Asus ProArt PA32QCV is a top-tier 32-inch monitor, boasting a resolution of 6016x3384 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. This 6K monitor, produced by Asus, is a testament to the company's commitment to delivering high-quality equipment for creators.
The monitor is assembled without the need for tools, giving it a premium feel from the outset. Its design maintains Asus' ProArt styling, with a super-thin, flush bezel and a logically laid out OSD. The bezel width is 0.28 inch (7mm) for the top and sides, and 0.67 inch (17mm) for the bottom, ensuring a minimalist aesthetic.
The PA32QCV features an IPS panel with over 1,600:1 native contrast, a peak brightness of 600 nits for SDR and HDR, and a 10-bit color depth with DCI-P3 gamut. It also includes LuxPixel technology to improve image quality by providing benefits of an optically clean screen and rejecting ambient light.
The monitor consumes 41.4w of power at a brightness of 200 nits. It has two integrated 2W speakers, and video inputs include 1x DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, 1x HDMI 2.1, and 2x Thunderbolt 4.0. The monitor also has 1x 3.5mm headphone output, 1x up and 3x down USB 3.2 ports, and KVM capabilities.
The HDR rating for the monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 600. It has three luminance curves in HDR mode, called PQ (Perceptual Quantization). The HDR10 mode has three possible PQ curves. I found PQ Optimized to be the most accurate in testing, but it may be changed based on content creation.
The PA32QCV covers just under 100% of DCI-P3, but its max color volume is around 100% of P3. It also includes Adaptive-Sync in the Settings menu under the heading MediaSync.
The monitor's stand, base, and panel ship in fully recyclable packaging that uses molded cardboard pulp to protect the contents. The cable bundle includes IEC power, HDMI, and Thunderbolt/USB-C, and also includes a small microfiber cleaning cloth.
The OSD includes color modes, calibration controls, HDR options, KVM, Asus QuickFit, and a host of other convenience features. The color modes include 7 for SDR and 3 for HDR, plus 2 user memories. The monitor also has PIP and PBP options for viewing multiple video inputs simultaneously.
While the PA32QCV can be used for gaming, it is limited to 60 Hz and does not support Dolby Vision. It is, however, compatible with FreeSync and G-Sync. Calibrating the PA32QCV is unnecessary unless creating a custom setup that falls outside industry standards for grayscale, gamma, and color gamut.
The stand is super solid and fully adjustable for tilt, height, swivel, and rotation. The weight of the monitor is 20.5 pounds (9.3kg), and the panel dimensions, including the base, are 28.1 x 19-24.2 x 9.5 inches (714 x 483-615 x 241mm). The panel thickness is 1.8 inches (46mm).
The monitor does not include a whole array Mini LED with local dimming. However, it does have a field dimming feature called Dynamic Dimming, which doubles contrast for SDR content and takes HDR's range from 1,600:1 to almost 10,000:1.
The warranty for the monitor is 3 years, providing peace of mind for creators who rely on the PA32QCV for their work. Overall, the Asus ProArt PA32QCV is a high-quality, feature-rich 6K monitor that is a great choice for creators seeking premium performance and versatility.
