Revitalized BlackBerry Devices Arriving: Restored Handsets Poised to Propel BlackBerry into 2025
Get ready to step back in time, but with a modern twist! Zinwa, a sneaky little tech company, is bringing back the classic BlackBerry feel with a refreshing update. Their first target? The BlackBerry Classic from 2014, a familiar face painted with new tech inside.
Once upon a time, BlackBerry ruled the smartphone kingdom. Before the legendary iPhone hit the scene in 2007, BlackBerrys were the gadgets du jour, from business commuters to tech-savvy teens, clacking away on those hardy physical keyboards, typing out emails or BBM messages.
The brand might have had trouble keeping up, but nostalgia never dies. And now, there's a glimmer of hope for all the BlackBerry believers out there who felt heartbroken when the brand threw in the towel.
Say Hello to the New Kid on the Block
As reported by 9to5Google, get ready for another blast from the past. Instead of a fresh new face, Zinwa is going old-school fitness, utilizing the shell of the 2014 BlackBerry Classic but updating the guts to suit today's tech tastes. The screen, that barrel-shaped physical keyboard, and those familiar LED lights will still be there, but expect some juicy upgrades.
The heart of the revived monster will be the MediaTek Helio G99 chip, supported by a whopping 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. And let's not forget that hefty 3,000mAh battery. But don't worry, selfie queens and kings, the cameras are also getting an upgrade with a 50-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front sensor.
Running on Android 13 out of the box, you'll have USB-C, a fancy new modem, and NFC to play with. While no major updates are currently planned, Android updates are in the works. And while that's not much to write home about, just know that Zinwa's cooking up something for the BlackBerry Passport and the BlackBerry KeyOne, too!
Should You Take the Plunge?
The resurrected BlackBerry Classic will set you back $400, or you can grab a Q25 kit for just $300. Both will be available starting in August. But, before you take the plunge, remember, this device is more about the nostalgia and less about the high-end tech specs. But hey, who doesn't love a sporty spice in their life?
