Russia has developed drones capable of reaching speeds of approximately 370 kilometers per hour.

The Russian military has recently been making headlines with its use of the Geran-3 attack drone, an advanced variant of the Geran-2. This drone, loaded with explosives, detonates on impact after diving towards its target.

Russia has demonstrated its capability to launch hundreds of these drones in mass attacks, with over 800 drones involved in a bombardment at the beginning of this month. The Geran-3, which first appeared in Ukraine early this year, has since become a common feature of Russian attacks.

The internal structure and electronic units of the Geran-3 are similar to those of the Geran-2 variant, but it boasts a turbojet engine that allows it to reach speeds of up to 224 miles per hour and a range of 621 miles. This makes it faster than its predecessor, posing a significant threat to Ukrainian air defense systems.

The Geran-3 is modeled after the Iranian Shahed-238 drone, and it's worth noting that Beijing has long been accused of supplying critical technology to Russia. Nearly 50 foreign components inside the Geran-3 come from a handful of Western countries (US, UK, Switzerland, Germany) and China.

However, it's important to clarify that Western countries do not directly supply parts for the Russian Geran-3 attack drone. The drone's production heavily depends on Chinese components, with Iran providing the base design (Shahed drones), and Russia manufacturing them in factories such as Alabuga using these imported parts.

The Geran-3 is equipped with the same camera and video transmission system as its predecessor, but it also features interference-resistant technology to protect it from electronic warfare. It's also worth mentioning that Russia is expanding production of its Shahed-like drones and manufactures thousands of these weapons each month.

Ukraine has responded to the increase in drone attacks by hurriedly producing a large arsenal of interception drones, capable of intercepting the Geran-3. The international community, heavily sanctioning Russia after its attack on Ukraine, is closely monitoring the situation.

Western intelligence estimates suggest that Russia could eventually launch 2,000 drones in a single night. This potential mass deployment underscores the need for continued vigilance and innovative countermeasures in the face of evolving military technology.
