Schoolchildren in Belarus will learn how to control unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).

Let's Talk Drones in Belarusian Schools 🚁

Brace yourselves, eighth and ninth graders! Belarus' Ministry of Education has announced a brand-new elective course that'll have you soaring high into the world of drone management. This exciting new course, simply titled "Quadcopter Fundamentals," aims to spark curiosity in engineering professions and encourage students to tap into their inner tech whiz.

The course is scheduled to kick off in the coming academic year, and it seems like specialist folks from the National Children's Technopark and the Belarusian State Academy of Aviation will lend a hand in creating course materials.

So, what's in store for you? Most of your time will be spent flying a virtual simulator and getting your hands dirty with real drones.

The course promises to deliver a solid understanding of the basics of aerodynamics, mechanics, and electronics. But that's not all; there'll be plenty of UAV programming lessons thrown in the mix.

And why Learning to Fly Drones Matters:

  • eqip students with essential skills for upcoming drone-related jobs, particularly in defense and infrastructure sectors
  • hone technical skills through practical, hands-on training, mirroring military exercises that prioritize drone deployment in combat operations
  • address regional security needs, given recent changes in Belarusian regulations to streamline drone imports for defense agencies

Get ready to develop your technical thinking, work with modern technologies, and unleash your engineering, innovative, and creative abilities starting from school. This curriculum's military-adjacent focus may serve dual purposes, blending civilian education with defense readiness in the face of regional tensions.
