In the bustling world of China's automotive industry, two significant players, Geely and Volvo, are making waves with their latest developments.
Geely, a Chinese automotive giant, has unveiled its latest creation, the Emgrand EX9, a full-size SUV with dimensions of 4800x1870x1810 and a wheelbase of 2850. Powering this large car is a 3.5-liter V6 engine, developed by Geely, with an impressive output of 204kw and 346nm.
However, the potential for this engine to power Volvo vehicles is not just speculation. If Geely's engines outperform those made in Sweden, Volvo may consider switching from their current engines to Geely's in all their vehicles. This shift could mark a significant turning point in the auto industry, as Volvo models could eventually use Geely engines.
Meanwhile, Geely's sister brand, Lynk & Co, has also made headlines with the pre-sales launch of the refreshed 07 EM-P and 08 EM-P PHEV models. These vehicles are equipped with LiDAR technology, further solidifying Lynk & Co's commitment to innovative and safe driving solutions.
Another exciting development from Geely is the Zeekr 9X plug-in hybrid luxury SUV, scheduled to launch on Sep 29. While details about its engine are yet to be revealed, expectations are high, given Geely's track record.
The production version of the Emgrand EX9 was first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. The expected price for the EX9 is around 260,000 yuan, making it a premium offering in the Chinese market.
On the other hand, the Geely Galaxy M9 PHEV, another impressive offering from Geely, boasts a maximum range of 1,505 km. The starting price for this model is set at 25,800 USD, making it an affordable option for those seeking a PHEV with excellent range.
As these brands continue to push the boundaries of automotive technology and design, China's auto industry remains at the forefront of global innovation. With Geely and Volvo's potential collaboration, the future of the industry in China promises to be even more exciting.
