Siemens Healthineers Adjusts 2025 and 2026 Tariff Impact Forecasts

In a recent announcement, Siemens Healthineers has revised its tariff impact forecasts for the years 2025 and 2026. The company's updated guidance comes in response to the U.S.-EU trade agreement reached on July 27, 2025.

Initially, Siemens Healthineers predicted a pretax tariff impact of up to 300 million euros for the year 2025. However, the new agreement caps U.S. tariffs on most EU goods at 15%, which is lower than the previously anticipated 20% or potential 30% levels. As a result, the company has reduced its forecasted 2025 tariff impact on revenue and earnings to between 200 million and 250 million euros.

The company acknowledged a 100 million euro tariff-related hit in Q3 2025 alone. Despite this, Siemens Healthineers raised its 2025 comparable revenue growth forecast to 5.5%-6%, reflecting stronger-than-expected business performance. The company also slightly adjusted its EPS guidance to between 2.30 and 2.45 euros per share.

For 2026, the CFO, Jochen Schmitz, has indicated a likely higher tariff impact of 400 million to 500 million euros. The company expects a decline in the tariff impact in 2027.

The trade tariff effect has dominated medtech earnings calls in recent months, with several other companies, including GE HealthCare, Zimmer Biomet, Cardinal Health, Stryker, Thermo Fisher, Edwards, Danaher, and Boston Scientific, also lowering their tariff impact expectations or forecasts.

Other medtech companies such as Abbott, Boston Scientific, Intuitive Surgical, Johnson & Johnson, and Philips have also announced expected tariff charges this year. Philips, Intuitive Surgical, and J&J have all announced expected tariff charges of up to 400 million euros, 350 million dollars, and 400 million dollars respectively.

The new tariff ceiling is set to take effect on Aug. 1. Siemens Healthineers, like many other companies, continues to actively manage this macroeconomic challenge through operational adjustments and remains cautiously optimistic about mitigation measures moving forward.
