Terminals for autonomous transactions now available
In a move to enhance efficiency and convenience, self-service terminals have been partially put into service at the city's citizen service offices and the driving license and foreigner's office. These terminals, interconnected for data retrieval, allow citizens to complete routine tasks independently, reducing queues and wait times.
The initiative, spearheaded by the SPD faction in November 2019, was successfully submitted as a proposal by Sonja Bongers, the Chairperson of the SPD City Council faction. The installation of the terminals has been completed, and they are now operational.
The self-service terminals offer a user-friendly interface, available in nine languages, including German, to cater to the city's diverse population. Citizens can now complete various transactions, such as renewing their driving licenses or applying for foreigner's permits, with just a single photo or signature.
Sonja Bongers, in expressing her optimism about the time-saving benefits of the self-service terminals for citizens, said, "These terminals will not only make our services more efficient but also more accessible, especially during non-office hours."
The city administration will conduct an evaluation of the self-service terminals after four years to assess their impact on citizen services. The SPD City Council welcomes the successful installation of the self-service terminals and looks forward to their positive contribution to the city's services.
By implementing self-service terminals, the city aims to increase efficiency, improve accessibility and convenience, achieve cost savings, enhance user satisfaction, and encourage digital inclusion. As more citizens engage with these digital services, the city hopes to streamline its operations and provide faster, more efficient services to its residents.
