In the scorching heat of the desert, a California resident named Duncan experienced an unexpected issue with his Tesla Cybertruck. The temperature reached a sweltering 114 degrees Fahrenheit (46°C) during his desert trip, but it was the light bar on his Cybertruck that began to show signs of distress.

Duncan shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, revealing that the light bar, which is glued in place, began to come loose after driving in such extreme heat conditions. To his dismay, he found black residue from adhesive materials all over the Cybertruck.

This issue is not unique to Duncan. A third Cybertruck owner from Dallas, Texas, has mentioned seeing multiple reports of adhesive failures on the Cybertruck. Most Cybertruck owners seem unhappy with parts of their vehicle being held together by glue, a concern that reflects broader criticism about the Cybertruck's use of adhesives for assembling parts.

Tesla has not yet officially addressed this lightbar adhesion issue caused by extreme heat exposure. As of August 2025, there is no public evidence of a resolution or redesign to this problem. Jay, another Cybertruck owner, has expressed interest in purchasing the detached light bar from Duncan for building an aftermarket bracket mount.

However, Jay and other owners are hoping for a permanent fix to the lightbar adhesive issue on the Cybertruck. Chris, a Cybertruck owner from Maryland, has proposed the idea of opening the API to third-party suppliers for better-designed options, such as a more durable bracket for mounting the off-road light bar on the Cybertruck's windshield.
