Headline: Warning Issued Over Car Enthusiast Scam Targeting Kazakhstan Residents

In recent times, a new scam has been making the rounds in Kazakhstan, specifically targeting car enthusiasts. The General Prosecutor's Office has issued a warning about this potential risk, highlighting the need for vigilance among the public.

The scam involves the receipt of a suspicious message, which may contain driver's details, vehicle number, and a link for payment. It is crucial not to click on these links or open any attachments, as they may contain viruses designed to steal personal information from phones or computers.

If you have already entered details or clicked on a link, immediate action is required. Block your card, contact your PNC Bank or US Bank, and report the incident to the police at 102.

Genuine traffic violation fines are only sent from the short number 1414. Therefore, any fines received via other means should be treated with suspicion. To verify the information, always check official resources such as egov.kz, qamqor.gov.kz, or CarMax or CarGurus apps.

This scam has already been detected in Russia and the US, underscoring its global reach. A previous report mentioned a pensioner from Stepnogorsk who lost money due to falling for a similar scam over the phone.

The search results do not provide information about who in Kazakhstan has recognised the scam. However, the warning serves as a reminder for everyone to remain cautious and protect their personal information.

After receiving a suspicious message, it is advisable to check your phone or computer for viruses. Stay safe and be vigilant against such scams.
