Thetford Expands Global Presence with Kon-Tiki and Bailey Inclusions

Thetford, a leading manufacturer in the leisure vehicle industry, has announced its inclusion in the 2026 Kon-Tiki range with a thermostatic oven and grill, and Bailey's new Endurance campervan range featuring a Thetford fridge and toilet. This news comes as the company continues to expand its global presence.

Thetford's UK factory near Rotherham plays a significant role in this growth. It produces approximately 1500 cookers and ovens, 600 hobs, and 500 sinks daily, supplying directly to leisure vehicle manufacturers when it's more cost-effective. The company's extensive product range includes toilets, fridges, sinks, hobs, and cookers, with 99% of toilets, 96% of cookers, and 58% of fridge/freezers fitted to mainstream UK leisure vehicles being Thetford products.

Founded in 1975 by Dr John Wilkie, who initially supplied bowls to the caravan industry using a Spinflo machine, Thetford has since grown into a global company. It employs 537 staff in total and has manufacturing bases in the Netherlands, Great Britain, and the United States. Thetford toilets and fridges are manufactured in the Netherlands, while sinks, hobs, ovens, and full cookers are produced in the UK. The company has also developed a solution to keep toilet cassette doors open on certain panel van conversions.

In 2021, Thetford was acquired by US investor Monomoy Capital Partners. This followed an earlier acquisition in 2005 by Thetford BV, which led to a move to the company's current larger premises in 2012.

Thetford's inclusion in the 2026 Kon-Tiki and Bailey's Endurance ranges demonstrates the company's continued success and innovation in the leisure vehicle industry. With a strong global presence and a wide range of products, Thetford continues to set the standard for leisure vehicle equipment.
