Trump's remark during his victory speech applauds Elon Musk as Tesla's stock soars by 15%
In his 2024 Presidential victory speech, Donald Trump singled out Elon Musk as an American visionary, praising the tech entrepreneur's groundbreaking work in both the tech and space industries.
During the campaign, Trump mentioned a conversation with Elon Musk regarding SpaceX's satellite internet system, Starlink. He noted Elon Musk's swift deployment of Starlink, which saved lives by restoring communication in disaster-stricken areas, citing Hurricane Helene in North Carolina as an example.
Trump also commended Elon Musk's quick response during the hurricane, describing him as a 'super genius' whose innovations have set a new standard in technology and space exploration. The President did not, however, refer to Elon Musk as a 'new star' or a 'star born' in this context.
Elon Musk's role in the Trump administration saw him take on the position of leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), focusing on technical support and government efficiency. He was also commended for his technological achievements during the campaign.
In a remarkable display, Elon Musk recently launched and caught the SpaceX Starship booster. Trump described the booster as shining white going up and burning like hell upon its return, according to Elon Musk's explanation about the intense heat.
Trump expressed that Elon Musk's help was requested for communication as conventional networks had been destroyed. He also suggested that delays on Starship launches for SpaceX may be reduced under his presidency, and that government approval for Full Self-Driving may accelerate under his administration.
Interestingly, Tesla shares jumped nearly 15% the day after the election, reflecting renewed investor confidence in the tech sector. This increase, however, was not mentioned by Trump in his speech.
In a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk has decided to work for free for the DOGE under Trump's administration. This commitment to public service underscores Elon Musk's dedication to making a difference and furthering technological advancements.
