Xpeng's New P7 Electric Sedan Unveiled with Exclusive Scissor Door Variant
Xpeng, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer known for its Twitter profile, has revealed its next-generation P7 electric sedan and announced a new variant featuring scissor doors. The new model, called the "Wing Edition," is set to deliver a unique, extreme luxury sports experience.
The best-selling model in Xpeng's lineup remains the lower-priced Mona M03, but the P7 is making a strong case for itself with its innovative design and powerful performance. The P7 was first unveiled at the Shanghai auto show in April 2019 and officially launched in April 2020. Since then, deliveries have exceeded 10,000 units for the 11th consecutive month in July, accounting for 42.92 percent of Xpeng's total deliveries during that period.
The new P7 comes standard with three Turing AI driving chips, providing an effective computing power of 2,250 TOPS. However, the pre-sales price of the new P7 has not been disclosed yet. What is known is that the starting price will not exceed RMB 300,000 ($41,840).
The Wing Edition, the scissor door variant of the P7, offers a range of exclusive features. These include signature scissor doors, a special matte silver finish, sport seats with upgraded Dinamica upholstery, an exclusive gray or "Orange Glow" interior color theme, step plates with dimmed lighting, 21-inch forged lightweight wheels finished in gray, extensive use of carbon fiber trim panels on the interior and exterior, custom door sills, and orange Brembo brake calipers.
Behind the design, the Wing Edition features powerful powertrain options with up to dual-motor setups and high-capacity batteries (up to 92.2 kWh), delivering ranges up to 820 km CLTC and advanced 800V fast-charging technology for rapid recharge.
The P7 Wing Edition is expected to enhance Xpeng's brand appeal and offer a distinct experience from the regular P7, combining dramatic aesthetics with enhanced performance and exclusive interior/exterior details.
In July, the Mona M03 delivered 15,758 units, indicating strong demand for Xpeng's lower-priced models. The new P7 is set to join the ranks and contribute to Xpeng's continued success in the electric vehicle market.
