Uber and The Body Shop augment their delivery alliance.
The Body Shop Extends Partnership with Uber Eats for Same-Day Deliveries
Following a successful trial last year, The Body Shop has expanded its collaboration with Uber Eats, enabling customers in more locations to order beauty and personal care products via the food delivery platform.
In a press release issued Monday, the company announced that The Body Shop's products will now be delivered to consumers in cities across Illinois, Nevada, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Alaska, and Hawaii through Uber Eats. This expansion comes after the brands piloted the service in six locations in 2020 through partnerships with both Uber Eats and Cornershop.
From August 10, over 2,000 popular products, including Ginger Shampoo, Tea Tree range, and Shea Body Butter, will be available for delivery from 75 brick-and-mortar stores. Uber One members who spend at least $15 on merchandise will not incur a delivery fee.
Uber Eats' alliance with The Body Shop forms part of a broader strategy to integrate more retailers and grocery stores onto its platform, providing customers with prompt deliveries. Christian Freese, head of new verticals for Uber Eats in the U.S. and Canada, stated, "Beauty is an exciting space for us, and expanding with The Body Shop, a beauty industry staple for over 40 years, will allow us to bring on-demand cosmetic and personal care items to even more people across the country."
Notably, The Body Shop isn't the only non-grocery partner that Uber Eats has added to its platform recently. Bed Bath & Beyond and Hims & Hers have also partnered with Uber Eats for the delivery of their products in various markets. The platform has also stepped up efforts to incorporate more grocery and essential stores, collaborating with Costco, Rite Aid, and announcing plans to boost its grocery experience on the Uber Eats app.
Competition in the same-day delivery space remains fierce, as other tech giants such as Instacart and Amazon vie for market share. Instacart recently launched the Instacart Platform, and Amazon announced an expansion of its Prime benefits to offer same-day deliveries for selected brands in multiple metropolitan areas.
The integration of The Body Shop's products on Uber Eats' platform signals a broader move to include more retailers and technology in the markets, aiming to meet consumer demands for prompt deliveries, particularly in the evolving space of beauty and personal care. The partnership with AI-driven platforms like Uber Eats and Cornershop last year has set a precedent for labor-saving, technology-driven solutions in the delivery industry, with rivals such as Instacart and Amazon similarly investing in the labor and technology required for same-day deliveries.
