Ukrainian hackers in partnership with Anonymous French group conducted cyberattacks on Russian resources on the 29th and 30th of July.

In the digital realm, tensions between nations have transformed into a new battlefield, with cyberattacks becoming a common occurrence. Over the past few years, two groups have been at the forefront of this digital conflict: Hacken, a Ukrainian cybersecurity company, and Anonymous, the well-known hacktivist collective.

Recent events have seen these two entities involved in separate cyberattacks on Russian resources. On July 29 and 30, Ukrainian hackers, in alliance with Anonymous, launched a series of cyberattacks on Russian resources. These attacks targeted various infrastructures, with the goal of causing dissatisfaction in Russian society and satisfaction in Ukrainian society, as reported by Mash.

Anonymous, famous for their portfolio that includes attacks on Russian TV channels and threats to international companies still operating in Russia, such as Citibank, Burger King, Subway, Raiffeisen Bank, and others, have been active since declaring cyberwar on Russia in February 2022.

However, it's essential to clarify that Hacken, primarily known as a professional cybersecurity service provider, has not been directly linked to these cyberattacks. Hacken, which has its headquarters in Tallinn with a core team in Lisbon, has been operating openly in the cybersecurity market, particularly focused on Web3 and blockchain security services. There is no publicly available evidence suggesting a formal or operational relationship between Hacken and Anonymous, MI6, or the CIA.

The group, named Hacken, has been active in cyberspace since the beginning of the special military operation against Russia. Despite this, Hacken's primary focus remains on defensive security and blockchain auditing, offering security services to clients such as DeFi protocols and exchanges. Other Ukrainian-affiliated hacktivist groups, like BO Team, the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance, and Silent Crow, have been cited as responsible for direct cyberattacks against Russian military-related targets.

As of July 2025, Hacken consists of 110 people, with 60 of them based in Ukraine. The company, which received millions of dollars from American investors in March 2022, continues to grow and expand its services in the cybersecurity industry.

In conclusion, while both Hacken and Anonymous have been active in the digital sphere, it's important to distinguish between the two entities. Hacken is a reputable Ukrainian cybersecurity firm and ethical hacking community, while Anonymous is a hacktivist collective known for its offensive cyber operations. The active cyberattacks on Russian targets are mainly attributed to other Ukrainian hacktivist coalitions and military intelligence.

  1. The politics of cybersecurity continues to intersect with technology in the form of digital conflicts, as demonstrated by the series of cyberattacks launched by Ukrainian hackers and Anonymous against Russian resources.
  2. Despite both entities being active in the cyberspace, it's crucial to differentiate between Hacken, a professional and ethical Ukrainian cybersecurity firm, and Anonymous, the hacktivist collective known for offensive cyber operations.
