Globe Underwriting Expands into UK Professional Indemnity Market

Globe Underwriting, a leading player in the insurance industry, has made a strategic move into the UK professional indemnity (PI) market and the financial lines division. This expansion is marked by the appointment of Paul Nolan as the head of financial lines.

Paul Nolan, a seasoned professional with over 20 years of London market underwriting experience, has held senior roles at AIG, AGCS, and Probitas Syndicate 1492. His expertise will be instrumental in driving Globe Underwriting's growth in the £3.3 billion annual premium financial lines market.

Nolan's role at Globe Underwriting involves spearheading the first PI proposition and leading the expansion into the financial lines market. His market leadership and proven track record in growing profitable books position him ideally to drive Globe's financial lines growth strategy.

In addition to Nolan's appointment, Globe Underwriting has also appointed Kiran Wignall as underwriting manager, professional indemnity. Wignall, who joins from Probitas Syndicate 1492, brings 12 years of specialist underwriting experience to the table. His appointment reflects Globe's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of brokers and clients with tailored underwriting solutions.

Wignall will be responsible for the underwriting strategy, growth, and profitability of the PI book. He will work closely with Nolan to launch the PI proposition and capacity in July.

Meanwhile, Pen Underwriting has expanded its partnership with global (re)insurer SiriusPoint through a new capacity deal in support of international PI risks. SiriusPoint provides 100% capacity for Pen's international PI portfolio, with the dedicated London market team of SiriusPoint supporting the new capacity deal.

iSure, a specialist SME insurance MGA in Ireland, has also launched a Professional Indemnity (PI) facility. The facility, designed for SMEs, Consultants, and sole traders, comes with a €2m primary and a €3m excess of loss limit.

BGL Insurance (BGLi) has also made changes in its leadership team. The company has appointed Laura Mullaney as Managing Director of Distribution, promoting her from her previous role as Customer Director for BGLi.

These developments highlight the dynamic nature of the insurance industry and Globe Underwriting's commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation and growth.
