United Makes History: First Mainline Aircraft Certified for Starlink
United Airlines has made history with the FAA's certification of its first mainline aircraft equipped with Starlink. The Boeing 737-800 will take to the skies with the innovative internet service on October 15, 2025.
The FAA has granted approval for Starlink's Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) amendment, allowing United's Boeing 737-800 fleet to offer the high-speed connectivity service. This marks a significant milestone for both United and Starlink, as it's the first mainline aircraft type to receive such certification.
Passengers have already been enjoying the Starlink experience on United's regional aircraft. With over half of the regional fleet now equipped with Starlink, United is set to expand this offering to its mainline fleet. The first commercial flight with Starlink on a mainline United aircraft is scheduled for October 15.
United's plans for Starlink extend beyond just internet connectivity. The airline aims to provide game-changing inflight entertainment experiences, including streaming services, shopping, and gaming. With the FAA's certification, United is one step closer to transforming the inflight experience for its passengers.
