Unveiled via datamining, designs for an endless mode in Elden Ring incorporate aspects of Armored Core 6's rank structure and player matching based on skills.

In the world of Elden Ring, the latest update to Nightreign has introduced a new Everdark boss named Augur, along with duo expeditions and a new relic sorting system. However, it's not just the current content that has players buzzing - dataminers have uncovered details about an upcoming, unannounced Nightreign game mode named "Deep of Night."

Deep of Night is reportedly an endless, ultra-hard ranked survival mode with skill-based matchmaking that gradually increases difficulty as players progress through five "Depth" levels. The mode is said to pit players against randomized bosses instead of allowing them to choose their target, with victory increasing the player's Depth rating, which in turn raises the difficulty.

The new rating system in Deep of Night is similar to the one used for FromSoftware's Armored Core 6, where winning matches increase ranked XP. There are five Depth levels with ratings (up to 999 per Depth), and players lose rating on defeat but cannot drop below their current Depth after passing Depth 1, preventing regression to easier tiers. Matches in Deep of Night pair players of similar Depth ratings to keep competition fair and engaging.

In addition to the challenging gameplay, Deep of Night may grant up to three additional "Deep Relics" slots (on top of the usual three relic slots in standard play), with powerful buffs that incur drawbacks like continuous HP loss to balance their strength. Some bosses might have special variants (e.g., magma-infused) to add another layer of complexity.

Although FromSoftware has not yet officially confirmed or detailed Deep of Night, some leaked gameplay videos have reportedly surfaced online. It remains unclear whether Deep of Night will be a free update or part of future paid DLC.

As players continue to experiment with overhaul mods for Nightreign based on the behavior of the Nightlords in Deep of Night, it seems that this unannounced feature could keep players engaged for a significant amount of time until the upcoming DLC drops. Stay tuned for more updates on Deep of Night and Elden Ring Nightreign.

  1. In the upcoming Nightreign game mode, Deep of Night, players may win additional Deep Relics slots with powerful buffs that come with drawbacks, allowing for greater engagement and challenge.
  2. The skill-based matchmaking in Deep of Night pairs players with similar Depth ratings for fair and intense competition, with victory leading to increased Depth rating and increased difficulty.
  3. Deep of Night seems to offer an endless, ultra-hard ranked survival mode reminiscent of the challenging gameplay found in FromSoftware's Armored Core 6, where XP gained from winning matches contributes to Depth levels.
  4. With reports of leaked gameplay videos and the appealing combination of technology, international gameplay, and gadgets, Deep of Night has the potential to bring an international victory for Nightreign players in the upcoming competitive season.
