Google to Launch Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro on October 4

Google has officially announced the launch date for its upcoming smartphone series, the Pixel 8, and its high-end variant, the Pixel 8 Pro. The tech giant has also hinted at the possible introduction of the Pixel Watch 2 during the same event.

The announcement comes on the heels of Apple’s expected launch of the iPhone 15 series, with the Pixel 8 series seemingly set to challenge Apple on the timing of its event. Google previously sent out invites for a Made by Google event, after renowned YouTuber Marques Brownlee confirmed the event's details.

Google's online store inadvertently showcased the design of the Pixel 8 Pro a day before Apple's anticipated Wonderlust event, believed to be the launch of the iPhone 15 series and additional Apple products.

Specifications and Features

Starting with the Pixel 8 Pro, the smartphone is rumored to feature a temperature sensor on its back, a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED display with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, powered by a Google Tensor G3 processor, and paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The device may also boast a 4950mAh battery with support for 27-watt fast charging. It is expected to run on the Android 14 operating system out of the box.

For photography enthusiasts, the Pixel 8 Pro could include a 50-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization, a 64-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 48-megapixel telephoto sensor. The front-facing camera reportedly will be an 11-megapixel sensor.
