Urban forestry in Kamchatka will be integrated with the "Safe City" surveillance network
The Department of Forest Protection, Conservation, and Reproduction within the Ministry of Forestry and Hunting of Kamchatka Krai has announced the introduction of a new initiative, the "Safe City" project. This project is a modern solution aimed at improving the overall emergency response system in Kamchatka Krai, particularly during the upcoming 2025 fire season.
The "Safe City" platform serves as a tool for inter-agency information exchange and emergency response. It is not limited to the forest protection, conservation, and reproduction department, but is intended for use by various agencies across Kamchatka Krai. The connection of the forest firefighting units to the "Safe City" unified platform is expected to enhance the response to forest fires and other emergencies.
The project facilitates the reporting of forest fires, wild animal incursions, and violations of forest and hunting laws. Residents and guests of Kamchatka Krai are urged to report all such cases to the short number 112, which remains the primary means for reporting such incidents. The "Safe City" project does not replace this service but aims to complement it by providing a more efficient and streamlined reporting process.
The "Safe City" project is not limited to forest fires. It also includes responses to other non-standard situations. The controlled objects in the "Safe City" project include municipal buildings, schools, kindergartens, residential sectors, industrial and energy complex objects, transport infrastructure, and places of mass gatherings.
The connection to the "Safe City" platform is expected to bypass the long information passage through different operational services, thereby improving the responsiveness of emergency services. The project is also designed to reduce the likelihood of technological and natural risks by ensuring timely and accurate information exchange.
The "Safe City" project in Kamchatka Krai was initiated by the government of Kamchatka Krai, with the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Kamchatka Krai playing a significant role in its development. The project is intended for use alongside the forest firefighting units and is a software complex that uses analytical solutions to quickly determine and respond to various non-standard situations.
The "Safe City" project is a significant step forward in enhancing the emergency response system in Kamchatka Krai. It is not an advertisement but a practical tool designed to improve the safety and well-being of the region's residents and visitors.
