Venture Capital Firm SevenX Ventures Fronts $8 Million for Blockchain Gaming Developers Nytro Lab

In a significant move for the Web3 gaming industry, Nytro Lab, a studio led by tech and gaming veterans from Facebook's advertising division, NetEase, Tencent, and ByteDance, has announced the beta testing of their upcoming mobile 4X RPG, Castile. The game, built on the Aptos blockchain, aims to revolutionise the gaming landscape by merging high-quality gameplay with an engaging trading system.

During its alpha testing phase, Castile ranked first in U.S. TikTok marketing tests, demonstrating its potential to capture the attention of gamers. The game achieved a impressive 90.53% user retention rate and an average playtime of 198.9 minutes, indicating a strong engagement from players.

Nytro Lab has raised $8 million in funding to support the ongoing development and launch of Castile. This round was led by SevenX Ventures and also received participation from OKX Ventures, Aptos Labs, Amber Group, Matr1x, Hashkey Capital, and Leland Ventures.

With this investment, Nytro Lab aims to scale its vision, expand Castile with new content, and drive the adoption of Web3 gaming. The studio plans to use the fresh capital to accelerate the development of Castile, with the ultimate goal of making it a blockchain-enabled RPG with full player ownership of assets and tokenized interaction.

The game's economy and trading features are central to its design as a play-to-earn title within the 4X strategy RPG genre. During the beta testing, Castile will introduce new features such as a Tarot System, Trading System, League Boss Racing, and League Tournament. Players will be able to mint and trade in-game items such as gear, supported by the game's native CAST token, which underpins the in-game economy.

HC Xie, Ecosystem Manager at Aptos Labs, expressed excitement about Castile's potential to engage and expand the global gaming community while showcasing the unique capabilities of the Aptos network. Arthur Kao, Co-Founder of Nytro Lab, commented that the 'Play and Trade' model is designed to empower players to engage in high-quality gameplay while participating in a dynamic game economy.

Castile entered beta testing on September 10 and will run through October 10. Up to 10 million CAST (Castile's governance token) will be given as rewards during the beta testing. The success of Castile during its open beta testing on the Aptos blockchain positions it as a game with a promising future in the blockchain gaming industry.
